Choosing A Hardwood Floor
Wood flooring adds beauty and value to your home.
You are making some very important decisions when choosing which type of flooring will best suit your needs. Hardwood flooring will not only add beauty to your home, it will also add value that you will benefit from at resale.
A & R Wood Floors specializes in solid wood flooring that is installed and finished on site.
Some people may not know the difference between solid and engineered wood flooring. Solid wood flooring is solid wood milled to a nominal ¾” thickness and nailed to the subfloor through the tongue which will be covered by the groove in the next board.
Engineered wood typically has a thin top wear layer of the desired specie that is peeled off the log like an apple and glued to a plywood type of substrate. Engineered flooring is usually glued to the subfloor or floating (snapped together or glued to itself, not attached to the structure at all).
A solid wood floor can be sanded and refinished multiple times versus the engineered wood floor which can be sanded once, maybe twice, if you’re lucky.
Here at A & R Wood Floors we believe solid wood flooring is the best alternative and we want our customers to feel confident that they made the right choice.
